Lima Peru

¡Hola a todos!

Jared and I arrived uneventfully in Lima 2 nights ago. We spoke broken Spanish with our cab driver on the way to the hostel. Simply put, we have a long way to go with our Spanish!!
The next morning we headed out into Lima for a stroll. We had to go to two banks before we could withdraw money, which is always a baby bit terrifying but once we had the cash in hand the crisis was over and we went for sandwiches. After a rather warm bus ride we made it to the Plaza de Armas, the main square in the centre of Lima.
The oldest part of the square is the bronze statue in the middle, dating from 1650.

I just love stained glass. This was at the Peruvian Museum for Literature

The Monasterio de San Francisco, famous for catacombs and a library full of ancient texts. The underground catacombs have an estimated 70,000 burials.

La Catedral de Lima was originally built in 1555, but was destroyed by an earthquake, multiple times. This one is from 1746.

Miraflores was the neighbourhood we stayed in. It was really nice, quite upscale. The views over the cliffs looking out over the sea were lovely.

Next stop- Huaraz, Peru for some mountain views, and hopefully not too much rain!
